About the Kansas Film & TV Hall of Fame (KFTHF)

The Blue Hills Heritage Foundation (BHHF) in the art community of Lucas, Kansas, oversees the reorganized Kansas Film & TV Hall of Fame, or KFTHF for short. The new name for the Hall comes as a result of the merging of the former Kansas Movie Hall of Fame and the Kansas Thespian Hall of Fame under the BHHF banner.

Both previous Halls of Fame were established in 2016. The Kansas Movie Hall of Fame honored those noted theatrical and television movies that were either filmed in or set in Kansas over the past 120 years of cinematic and television art history, whereas the Kansas Thespian Hall of Fame honored those noted actors/actresses/directors/writers from both the movies and television who have ever called the Sunflower State home.

These stated goals will remain the mission statement for the new KFTHF. KFTHF honorees will be divided into two divisions, Film and Individual. Honorees in both divisions will continue to be chosen annually, with this year’s inductees to be announced in early December. A film will become eligible ten years after its release, while individuals will be eligible for consideration 20 years after their first industry job. Further rules for eligibility will be announced as they become available.

The not-for-profit Blue Hills Heritage Foundation was founded in Lucas, Kansas in September 2018. The following is the mission statement of the Foundation: “Dedicated to preserving, presenting, and promoting the heritage and culture of the community of Lucas as it impacts the county of Russell, the state of Kansas, the nation, and the world.” In addition to the KFTHF, the Foundation also administrates the Russell County Kansas Hall of Fame.
